Membership Information

Join the Friends for just £30 a year-

We have monthly meetings often held by Zoom but also sometimes 'in person' in Winchester, with guest speakers on transport related subjects. There are also outings using our vehicles, and members are welcome to ride on the buses and coaches when we take them to running days, rallies, and other events.

If you're interested in working on the vehicles, there are regular working sessions on Tuesday evenings and Saturdays. The work ranges from vehicle maintenance and running repairs to major restoration projects, as well as premises maintenance, and many other tasks.

After one year's membership you can train as a conductor and crew FoKAB vehicles. If you hold a PCV, after a qualifying period you may be considered for driving duties, although this is subject to type testing and insurance requirements.

Our biggest event each year is the Original King Alfred Buses Running Day, recreating the 1960s bus scene in Winchester. It takes place in the springtime, usually the May Day Bank Holiday. Many of our members help plan and staff this major public event and all involved have a great time!  There are also smaller Running Days usually on 1st January and in September, the latter as part of Winchester Heritage Open Days.

The "Broadway Bulletin" magazine is published regularly, informing members of meetings, engineering reports, bus-related articles, and details of events to which we are taking a bus or coach. As a member you can choose to have this posted or emailed to you.
