Serious Fire at Penton Mewsey

In the early morning of 8th December 2023 a major fire broke out at one of the bases where eight heritage buses were stored.  Most of these were vehicles owned by members of Friends of King Alfred Buses (FoKAB) but one was JAA 708, the unique King Alfred Leyland Olympic owned by the FoKAB charity.  The blaze was severe and despite great efforts by the Fire & Rescue service the vehicles are almost completely destroyed and little or nothing will be able to be salvaged.

Centenary of Safeguard Coaches, Guildford

Safeguard Coaches will celebrate its centenary with an event centred on Guildford Cathedral.  It is planned for at least one King Alfred vehicle to attend and it is likely there will be some free vintage bus services.  More details will be available here in due course and on the Safeguard Coaches website.
