An American automobile with a King Alfred connection

Friends of King Alfred Buses is delighted to announce that a historic American automobile which was long ago the prized possession of the joint Managing Director of King Alfred Motor Services, Mr Bob Chisnell, and which was given to us quite a few years ago, will now, with the help of a Specialist Vehicle Restorer be restored to its former glory.

Serious Fire at Penton Mewsey

In the early morning of 8th December 2023 a major fire broke out at one of the bases where eight heritage buses were stored.  Most of these were vehicles owned by members of Friends of King Alfred Buses (FoKAB) but one was JAA 708, the unique King Alfred Leyland Olympic owned by the FoKAB charity.  The blaze was severe and despite great efforts by the Fire & Rescue service most of the vehicles were destroyed such that almost nothing could be salvaged.  However, JAA 708 fared slightly better and the remains now await assessment of future possibilities.
